RESEARCH FELLOW/RESEARCH ASSOCIATE 
(ENERGY SECURITY DIVISION)  


The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is a research institute in the National University of Singapore seeking to advance the understanding of energy policy issues by conducting independent research and analysis. The Energy Security Division of ESI has a vacancy for a researcher in the social sciences relating to energy (politics, public policy, international relations, law, economics, geography) to join a multi-disciplinary team carrying out research into a range of different energy issues of concern to Singapore, at regional and international scales. 

Requirements:

  • For Research Fellow, candidate must have a PhD degree in the social sciences, preferably relating to energy (politics, public policy, international relations, law, economics, geography).
  • For Research Associate, candidate must have a minimum Masters degree in the social sciences relating to energy (politics, public policy’ international relations, law, economics, geography)
  • A strong written and oral command of the English Language,
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job scope:

  • Conduct research on regional and international energy issues as agreed with the Head of Division.
  • Work as part of a team to produce project reports on topics assigned by the Head of Division. One of the ongoing projects concerns the governance of nuclear safety.
  • Take the Principal Investigator role for assigned projects.
  • Publish in international academic journals and produce policy publications.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including the organising of seminars, workshops and conferences, as well as other general tasks assigned by the Head of Division and the Executive Director.

Please ask your referees to type 'Letter of reference for [your family name]' in the subject line. Reference letters should state your name and position applied for.
  8. The closing date for applications is 7 March 2020. You may wish to check with your referees that they have submitted their references before the closing date.
