The Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre (IVHM) was established in 2008 between Boeing, Cranfield, and a number of other highly regarded aerospace companies (including BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt and Thales). The Centre is now globally recognised, having defined the subject area and developed its capability on several fronts. The development of the Centre, along with two other areas in the University, significantly contributed to the recent £65m DARTeC (Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre) proposal success. Through DARTeC, due to open in 2020, the IVHM Centre’s influence and capabilities will grow into the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) sector and hence be assured for the foreseeable future.

We are seeking to appoint a Professor and Head of Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre who will provide global thought leadership in IVHM research, development and education, while leading the IVHM Centre and its staff at Cranfield. It will entail understanding the current research issues, challenges and opportunities surrounding IVHM and its application areas, while simultaneously developing strategies to ensure Cranfield stays at the forefront of the field.

You will have proven track-record of developing and implementing strategy, as well as a delivering world-class research in aspects of IVHM and its application to aerospace or similar sectors. This may be evidenced through high-quality publications in the top peer reviewed journals as well as in books, research reports and successful engineering projects. In addition, you will have PhD or equivalent in a subject relevant to IVHM.

With an outstanding ability to provide intellectual leadership, internally and externally, you will have led and developed high performance teams, be an effective networker, and able to influence at all levels with excellent communication and problem solving skills.  In turn, the successful applicant will have exciting opportunities for career development in this key senior position, and to be at the forefront of world leading research and education, joining a supportive team and environment

This post is subject to a screening process which may in course delay the start date. Successful candidates must meet the necessary security requirements before they can be appointed.

For an informal discussion, please contact Professor Ian Jennions, Director of IVHM on (E); i.jennions@cranfield.ac.uk
