We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Vertebrate Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences within the School of Life Sciences and the Environment. We invite applications from candidates with research interests in vertebrate biology, and with the ability to teach in our undergraduate programmes in this area. We are looking for candidates with an excellent publication record, an exciting research programme and demonstrating the potential to acquire grant funding. Areas of expertise that we are looking for include, but are not limited to the physiology, biodiversity, evolution, development, anatomy or biomechanics of vertebrates. The area of research should fit with the strategy of the Department and School, which addresses various aspects of molecular, organismal and environmental biology and the biological processes underlying normal biological function. Candidates whose research is multi- or inter-disciplinary are encouraged to apply
Applicants will hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline. Applicants will have experience in generating high-quality publications and success – commensurate to career stage – in gaining research funding from the UK research councils, charities, industry or other funders. We strive for excellence in research, in the dissemination of research outcomes and in teaching.  We are therefore looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Department’s expertise spans the biological sciences from molecular and biomedical sciences to ecology, evolution and behaviour. This post aims to build on and expand our research portfolio and will contribute to the teaching in vertebrate biology in our biology, zoology and biomedical sciences degrees. Applicants are expected to design and supervise research projects across the range of our degree programmes. Being able to contribute to the organisation and delivery of field courses, either in the UK or overseas, is desirable.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
