About Us

UTS has a strongly practice-focused, experiential learning and teaching framework called ‘learning.futures’ which has enabled UTS to rethink the experience of all our students in every faculty. As part of this framework, the postgraduate.futures initiative is now reinventing the experience of postgraduate-by-coursework learners at UTS. The Postgraduate Learning Design team was established by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) in 2016 to apply these new approaches to the postgraduate coursework experience. The team has expanded to enable the rollout of transformed postgraduate courses by 2021 and to support new postgraduate initiatives in the UTS 2027 Strategy.

The Postgraduate Learning Design team sits within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Students). The DVC (ES) is responsible for leading the achievement of the University's key priorities in teaching and learning, and all aspects of the UTS student experience.

About the Role

This Assistant Learning Designer role provides support for the Postgraduate Learning Design Team in designing and developing quality postgraduate teaching and learning experiences.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the development of a portfolio of postgraduate teaching and learning products under the direction of a Senior Learning Designer or Learning Designer
  • Conduct testing and quality assurance of online learning resources
  • Edit content of online learning modules, in line with the PGf Style Guide and Quality Assurance documentation
  • Developing and sustaining relationships with university stakeholders, as required along with participating in team initiatives relating to key developments in education

About You

The incumbent in this role will provide high-level support to the Postgraduate Learning Design team and have a genuine interest in teaching and learning at UTS.

With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following seven (7) key selection criteria points below:

  • Completion of Year 12 Certificate and further study at a tertiary level relevant to educational design and learning technologies, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Capacity to work effectively as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Good oral, written and media-based communication
  • High level of competence in information technology, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, familiarity with online courses, learning tools and social media
  • Ability to respond flexibly and positively to change; embrace new ideas and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with one or more Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas, Moodle or Blackboard) and online media production tools is desirable.
  • Experience working collaboratively at a fast pace, to achieve deadlines

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range:Base Salary Range: $64,732 to $69,238 pa (HEW 4)

This role attracts 9.5%superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 11 months.
