Intern - Arboretum

Job Description Summary

The Education Intern is an integral part of the Education team, which develops and delivers educational programs for professionals, adults, families and children. The Education Intern works with staff to direct the activities of volunteer guides including training and workshop planning. The intern also provides committee leadership and education program support. The intern meets regularly with volunteer guides and other professionals to plan, coordinate and evaluate programs. The intern has the opportunity to communicate with the public through newsletter articles, course brochure descriptions and a monthly volunteer publication.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise logistics of scheduled tours and guides.
  • Write and produce volunteer newsletter and e-news for class takers.
  • Help plan and execute weekly schedule of intern sessions.
  • Work with staff to produce adult and family course curriculum.
  • Help plan classes for course brochure and send course evaluations to students after class.
  • Participate in weekly educational sessions for interns.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree in an education-related field preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and oral required. Good interpersonal skills, together with ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team is required. Must be adaptable and flexible. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Publisher preferred. A valid driver's license is required. A full background check will be undertaken for the successful applicant.

 

The rate for this position is $13.10 per hour.
The position has a specified start date of June 15, 2020 and an end date of June 4, 2021.
