Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the Graphic Designer and Photographer plays an important role in promoting the Penn Libraries' services, resources, and expertise. The person hired for this role will support the Strategic Communications Team in illustrating Penn Libraries services, events, exhibits, and expertise and the impact of the Libraries on audiences at Penn and beyond.
Job Description
Working closely with other members of the Libraries’ Strategic Communications Team, the Graphic Designer and Photographer will help to develop and refine the Libraries’ visual identity and ensure that identity is expressed in a consistent and compelling way. The Graphic Designer and Photographer will create original designs as needed and also develop design templates and assist other staff in designing digital signs and collateral, including email, web, and social media graphics, and printed collateral, including event and service flyers, brochures, reports, and signage posted in the Libraries.
In addition, the Graphic Designer and Photographer will capture photos of people, events, services, and spaces during regular operations and special events. This role will also include editing photos to ensure the highest quality of presentation and helping to manage organization, storage, retrieval and re-use of these assets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Demonstrated experience producing photos and collateral materials to express an organization’s visual identity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite..
- Ability to develop and design around brand guidelines.
- Experience preparing files and print specifications for vendors.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal-communication, and time-management skills.
- Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
Preferred
- Experience with video capture and editing.
- Experience with digital asset management.
