Job description

We are looking for a Student Experience Adviser to join our team at Napier University. Working as part of the Student Wellbeing and Inclusion team you will act as a business partner to the School of Health and Social Care as part of a newly created team that will deliver ongoing support and guidance to students.    Edinburgh Napier University is a forward thinking institution, home to forward-thinking people, inspired by the world around them. The role 

The Student Experience Adviser will play a key role in the successful delivery of information, advice, support and guidance to ensure an excellent personalised student experience. The role will also work on a range of initiatives to enhance the broader experience of this large, diverse group of future nurses, midwives, social workers and allied health professionals. Some areas of particular focus for this will include:

  • Providing 1-2-1 professional advice, support and guidance to students 
  • Working closely with academic and professional services to develop and deliver a suite of activity to enhance the overall student experience
  • Leading on projects and initiatives such as student volunteering and involvement; supporting students in practice placements; establishing peer mentoring; creation of a programme of social events, issue-based groups/activities and information/awareness-raising campaigns

This role is expected to evolve over time with a range of other exciting and innovative work in conjunction with the skills and interests of the successful candidate and the needs of the student population. 

Who we are looking for 

We're looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of supporting students in an academic environment or equivalent. Degree qualified ideally (or relevant experience), candidate's will have knowledge and understanding of student experiences including delivering training and mentoring. 

Experience working in Higher Education would be beneficial as well as experience of working in health care although we are open to other backgrounds. 

Commitment to students, the quality of their experience and their success is important and the ability to communicate and interact effectively with them and a wide range of individuals and groups both in person and through a variety of media.
