DREAMING, BELIEVING, ACHIEVING

UWS is one of the UK’s most ambitious new Universities and addressing global challenges is at the heart of our research. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Research Fellow to support the implementation of the University’s GCRF strategy and join our newly established GCRF Centre for Education, Entrepreneurship and Care with the focus on supporting women in protracted displacement.

Development of the University of Edinburgh and UWS jointly established Global Refugee Health Research Network (GRHRN) as well as a portfolio of our internationally excellent efforts that inspire diverse communities globally are the key centre activities. The post holder will have an exciting opportunity to support the network, join a collegiate and vibrant community of researchers and engage with key stakeholders in a number of developing countries. Furthermore, the post holder is expected to play a major supporting role in the consolidation of the University’s efforts to:

  • become a major global contributor, supporting multi-disciplinary research in education, entrepreneurship and care with a particular focus on the challenges faced by women in protracted displacement and
  • ensure the University’s compliance with the requirements of external funding organisations.

The role requires extensive experience of organising consortia for and writing of externally funded applications (especially GCRF but also Research Councils, Charities, EU or other external funding bodies).

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have a completed Postgraduate Research Degree related to a subject area relevant to education, entrepreneurship and care, you will be an excellent communicator (oral and written) and have:

  • skills in guiding and motivating researchers in a complex project setting,
  • excellent IT skills in relation to managing research project data and information,
  • exceptional ability to work across disciplines,
  • ability to balance competing demands and work with many different organisations,
  • sufficient depth and breadth of specialist knowledge to work within established research areas,
  • detailed awareness of GCRF developments.

In addition, you will have experience in applying for external grant funding, research within externally funded projects addressing challenges identified through the UN Sustainable Development Goals and managing resources.

The post is primarily based at the UWS Paisley Campus with occasional travel to our other campuses (Ayr, Lanarkshire, Dumfries and London).
