Description

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and the Humanities Division at the University of Chicago are accepting applications for a part-time Lecturer position in Modern Hebrew. This appointment begins January 1, 2020 and continues through June 30, 2020. The Lecturer will teach one course in advanced modern Hebrew in the Winter Quarter (Jan-early March) and one in the Spring Quarter (late March-mid June) to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have previous experience teaching modern Hebrew at the college level and an advanced degree in a related discipline. We seek applicants who demonstrate sufficient language proficiency for teaching modern Hebrew in a university context, e.g. through receipt of an advanced degree earned in a Hebrew-language context or through an ACTFL-certified result at the Superior level or higher. Candidates with specialized training in second language acquisition, second language pedagogy, and/or assessment are especially encouraged to apply.
