Murdoch University is organised into two colleges: College of Arts, Business, Law and Social Sciences, and College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education. The latter contains ten disciplines, one of which is Psychology, Exercise Science, Chiropractic and Counselling.

The discipline of psychology runs undergraduate Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science psychology courses in the Perth campus, as well as in Singapore and Dubai.

The Role

The Clinical Practice Scholar Psychology is expected to develop professional training activities relevant to the discipline. This position contributes mostly to the teaching effort of the Discipline through the preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials and other types of teaching activities, and supervision of masters and the provision of clinical supervision to students undertaking clinical work in Murdoch’s internal clinics or on external practicums. This position is also expected to perform a range of administrative and service functions within the Discipline including the clinical management and effective governance of Murdoch’s clinical and translational research clinics.

Skills and Experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A Doctoral degree or demonstrated prior learning which is equivalent to a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
  • Currently be a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor for higher degree trainees.
  • Currentlybe registered with AHPRA with specialist endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in university teaching and unit coordination, including small and large groups, clinical supervision and research supervision of Masters and Doctoral level students.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating research, publication and facilitating student research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary approaches to curriculum design and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in management of a post graduate University Psychology training clinic.
