About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Fellow and Advisor, the incumbent will contribute to the Centre’s research programs through:

  • Research tasks, including but not limited to drafting research notes; tracking developments in priority areas; compiling and refining data for program reports; fact-checking publications; with opportunities for developing expertise and contributing to program publications or shorter analysis pieces.
  • Administrative tasks, including but not limited to liaising with key stakeholders and VIPs on events and research projects; working with internal USSC teams; preparing agendas and other documents for activities; managing program reporting, schedules and travel; upkeeping databases; and other tasks as directed.

About the Centre

In its short history, the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney has established itself as an internationally recognised authority on American studies outside of the United States. Spanning the study of foreign policy, defence, politics, economics, business, culture and society, the Centre fulfils its mission through education, research, public outreach, and policy development initiatives.

The Centre has a well-respected national reputation in large part because of its high media profile, extensive events program and comprehensive online presence. The incumbent will play a critical role in communicating the Centre’s work to target audiences, including media, government, donors, academia, students, and the general public

1.         Camperdown/Darlington Campus.

2.         Cumberland Campus. Home to the Faculty of Health Sciences (based in Lidcombe).

3.         Mallett Street Campus. Home of the Sydney Nursing School.

4.         Sydney Conservatorium of Music Campus. In Macquarie Street, central Sydney.

5.         Rozelle Campus. Home to Sydney College of the Arts.

6.         Surry Hills Campus. Home to the Faculty of Dentistry.

7.         Camden Campus. Contains facilities connected to the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment.
