• Exciting education and research Associate Lecturer position within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing
• Located at the Sydney School of Public Health within Camperdown Campus of the University of Sydney
• Full-time fixed term for 5 years and the potential for extension, with a base salary of $74,962 - $91,177 p.a. plus up to 17% superannuation

About the opportunity 

We are currently recruiting an Associate Lecturer education and research position. This position will suit an enthusiastic academic with tertiary level teaching experience and a vision for developing a research profile. You will work closely with the Program Director of Indigenous Health Promotion and other members of the academic team. The position will have a role in teaching and academic administration of the Indigenous health promotion units of study in the social and emotional wellbeing cohort of the Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Health Promotion (GDIHP), covering priority topics of program planning, implementation and evaluation, and embedding a range of social and emotional wellbeing issues covered by the curriculum. You will also have opportunity to undertake research, evaluation and community outreach work related to the GDIHP, Indigenous social and emotional wellbeing or other areas within the Sydney School of Public Health (SSPH).

This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Associate Lecturer in Indigenous Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing who possess:

• relevant tertiary qualifications in public health or in a related program focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and social and emotional wellbeing and/or culture,
• a Master of Philosophy or PhD in Indigenous health and social and emotional wellbeing, Public Health (or close to completion)
• a broad understanding of Indigenous health, social and emotional wellbeing and health promotion in the Australian and global context
• teaching experience in Indigenous health and social and emotional wellbeing and in Indigenous health promotion at a tertiary level, with a demonstrated ability to provide specific support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
• a desire to contribute to research projects related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and social and emotional wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic academic with excellent relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Ideally the applicant will have experience in academic writing for reports and/or publications.
