Lincoln Medical School – Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln

Location:  Lincoln
Please note this post is permanent full-time 1.0 FTE. Lecturer salary from £33,797 per annum, Senior Lecturer salary from £39,152 per annum
Closing Date:   Wednesday 15 January 2020
Interview Date:   Monday 10 February 2020

The University of Lincoln has embarked on an exciting partnership with the University of Nottingham to provide undergraduate medical education in Lincolnshire, at scale, for the first time. The first group of 97 medical students began their studies at the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool campus in September 2019, and the University is offering the opportunity for two committed individuals to take up posts to continue building the teaching environment in the new medical school.

We wish to recruit two non-clinical academics at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer grade (one in Biochemistry/Molecular Medicine, and one in Pharmacology & Therapeutics) to join our team of academic staff across a range of clinical and non-clinical disciplines.

Working in newly-converted facilities until the new £21 million medical school is complete in 2021, you will join a progressive, goal-oriented team of 25 academic and professional services colleagues delivering excellence in medical education and an outstanding student experience within the University of Nottingham’s Early Years and BMedSci medical curriculum model.

The University of Lincoln was awarded TEF Gold in 2017, is ranked 17th overall in the Guardian University Guide 2020, and is a top 50 UK university in the Complete University Guide 2020.  Our modern campus sits beside the picturesque Brayford Pool marina, with views of the ancient castle and cathedral just beyond.  The University’s Strategic Plan for 2016-2021 can be found at: www.lincoln.ac.uk/home/media/responsive2017/abouttheuniversity/managementandstrategy/UOL,Strategic,Plan,(MAR,2016),V5Final.pdf

Either post may be offered at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, and on a Teaching and Research (T&R) or a Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) profile, depending on the skills and experience of the appointee.  In their application, applicants should state which profile would be preferred.  Information on current research at the University of Lincoln can be found at: www.lincoln.ac.uk/home/researchatlincoln/

If you would like to help establish one of the UK’s newest medical schools, and the opportunity to shape the hearts, minds and skills of the doctors of the future, look no further.

For further information on these posts, please contact the Associate Dean of Medicine, Professor Danny McLaughlin on dmclaughlin@lincoln.ac.uk.

The closing date for applications is 15th January 2020 and interviews will be held during the week commencing 10th February 2020, with a view to the appointees taking up post from May 2020.
