The KAUST Bioscience Core Lab (BCL) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join the Proteomics and Protein Expression Team. The scientist will play a key role in providing technical expertise to the research community and will be working in a highly collaborative and multi-cultural environment. The successful candidate will be in charge of operating highly specialized mass spectrometers and high-performance liquid chromatography systems and of developing cutting-edge methods and applications.

He/She must have extensive and diverse experience in designing and optimizing experimental protocols to fit specific needs of the facility users.

The candidate is expected to keep abreast of current scientific developments in the field in order to be able to train other team members and facility users.

The Core Labs are service and support oriented, therefore it is important for the successful candidate to be able to work with strict deadline

Major Responsibilities

• Independently operate and manage HPLC and mass spectrometers.
• Conduct trainings in sample preparation to facility users.
• Develop new methodologies and protocols independently or as part of a collaboration.
• Provide data analysis support.  

Qualifications & Competencies

• PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and biochemistry.
• Demonstrated scientific expertise and knowledge in biochemistry and protein expression.
• Excellent written and oral English.
