Salary
£30,000 to £34,700 p.a.

Do you have an undergraduate or higher degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar including an element of electronic systems design? Do you have experience in multiple software programming languages e.g Python/C/Matlab? Are you interested in applying your academic achievements in industry to achieve commercial gains?

We have an opportunity for you to ‘fast track’ your career in industry by leading a strategically important project to a successful conclusion. Through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), you will be working in partnership with LBBC Technologies Ltd. and the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at one of the UK’s leading research intensive universities.

LBBC Technologies is a family-run SME which continually strives to push the boundaries of pressure vessel and autoclave design, through precision engineering, advanced technologies and electronic intelligence. The aim of this project is to develop and embed a ‘whole systems design’ protocol and methodology into the business through the development of an innovative, internet-enabled intelligent control system initially for the Boilerclave® that can subsequently be applied to other products.

You will be leading the development and introduction of smart control instrumentation with remote network connectivity to a range of high pressure autoclaves focusing on the development of PLC based control systems and firmware, sensing techniques, network connectivity and backend data storage.

You will be based at the company premises in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, integrated within the engineering team but will be employed by the University of Leeds for the duration of the project, a fixed period of 30 months, with visits to the University. The School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering will provide academic and technical support to you throughout the project.

You will have access to a bespoke training and development package worth £5,000, to be spent according to your needs and the project’s requirements, enabling you to work effectively on the KTP and to plan for your future career. You will also attend two weeks of residential KTP training to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to complete the project successfully, for which time is allocated and funding provided. In addition to the challenges of the post, you will be expected to work towards a chartered membership of an appropriate professional body.
