Lecturer in Language and Communication Centre

The School aims to equip our students with critical thinking, research, as well as communication skills to enable them to realize their potential and to make lasting contributions to Singapore and beyond.

The Language and Communication Centre (LCC) in SoH offers courses in communication skills to undergraduate and graduate students across the university, particularly in the disciplines of engineering, the humanities, science, and social sciences.  

The School of Humanities seeks to fill 1 Lecturer position in LCC.

Candidates who have the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • PhD Degree in Applied Linguistics, English for Academic Purposes, Linguistics, Literature or Rhetoric and Composition
  • Experience in teaching academic and/or discipline-specific writing
  • Interest in new media and digital literacy
  • An active research agenda

Successful candidates will be expected to teach academic writing and communication skills, and to conduct research on related areas of inquiry, such as Applied Linguistics, Language and Communication studies and Writing Studies/Pedagogy.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
