Job Purpose

The Alumni Officer will develop, engage and support the BPP alumni network, support the growth of a new online alumni platform and assist with alumni administration.

BPP are developing their huge global alumni network and we are seeking a full time proactive and organised Alumni Officer who will play a key role in a small dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive membership and engagement on our new online alumni platform. This includes:
    • Posting engaging content from around BPP
    • Developing membership and engagement incentives
    • Providing member support
    • Managing regular communications
    • Performing data analysis
    • Working with the platform provider for improvements and updates
  • Provide alumni support as needed on cross-departmental BPP projects
  • Support the identification of and engagement with significant alumni around the world
  • Engage with alumni and the broader community via regular social media updates
  • Manage the alumni email account and provide timely responses to enquiries
  • Source and publish alumni ‘good news' stories
  • Develop alumni publications and promotional materials
  • Liaise with other areas of the university to support the development of testimonials
  • Support the organising and administration of alumni events
  • Work with other BPP teams to ensure alumni data is uptodate
  • Support the ongoing development of the alumni engagement strategy

Candidate Criteria


  • Ideally educated to degree-level, however applications from candidates with appropriate and relevant work experience or other equivalent qualifications will also be considered
  • Experience in data management
  • Experience of event management
  • Ability and experience of working with senior staff and figures both internally and externally
  • Ability to interact and network in a sociable and effective manner
  • Excellent communicator with excellent writing skills for invitations, presentations, social media and newsletters
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and CRMs
  • Please note that this role will on occasion require travel and working outside normal office hours


  • Experience of recruiting and working with alumni volunteers
  • An understanding of the higher or further education environment
  • Experience of dealing with external suppliers and managing those relationships
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design software
  • Project management techniques
