About the Job

The Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences comprises four Schools, the Hawke Research Institute, and numerous Research Centres employing in excess of 400 academic and professional staff servicing over 9,000 students. The School of Art, Architecture and Design unites the South Australian School of Art and the Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design to create an art and design profile that is unique in Australia. The School boasts modern studio and workshop facilities, a public Art Gallery and Australia’s only Architecture Museum - all located in award-winning purpose-built buildings at the City West campus.

Reporting to the Head of School Art, Architecture and Design, the Lecturer in Contemporary Art is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the Schools undergraduate and post graduate programs and contributes independently, and as part of a team to the Schools research agenda and outcomes. The position is focussed on the delivery of contemporary 2D, 3D and hybrid art practices and digital technologies related to art practice and art theory.

Skills and Experience

With a PhD qualification aligned with Contemporary or Visual Art and or related creative fields, you will demonstrate capacity and commitment to high quality, flexible teaching and learning outcomes in both traditional and contemporary delivery mode. A developing research track record,  the capacity to write research grants and generate research income and professional/industry or production experience including research and teaching in 2D or 3D art practices will be important.
