About the Job
The Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences comprises four Schools, the Hawke Research Institute, and a number of Research Centres employing in excess of 400 academic and professional staff servicing over 9,000 students. The School of Art, Architecture and Design unites the South Australian School of Art and the Louis Laybourne Smith School of Architecture and Design to create an art and design profile that is unique in Australia.
The School boasts modern studio and workshop facilities, a public Art Gallery and Australia’s only Architecture Museum - all located in award-winning purpose-built buildings at the City West campus.
Reporting to the Head of School Art, Architecture and Design, the Associate Professor will enhance the School’s leadership capability in teaching, research and industry engagement and contribute significantly to high quality research and publications, external research funding and the supervision of research students. The role develops and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programs with specific expertise in Human Environment disciplines such as Interior Architecture, Architecture, Design, Urban Design and/or Placemaking.
Skills and Experience
With a doctorate in Interior Architecture or a related discipline, you will demonstrate sustained, high quality teaching and research experience including writing research grants, producing high quality, high impact publications and leadership in the development, management and delivery of courses and programs.
Experience working collaboratively with organisations, communities and industry to support trans-disciplinary research and teaching outcomes will be important. A broad understanding of teaching and research with collections, exhibitions, archives and/or curatorial experience in Human Environment related disciplines will be highly regarded.
