About the role and college

The School of Art at RMIT is an international site for innovative and diverse art, craft and photographic practices and research led by accomplished artists, photographers and professional staff who strive for excellence in pedagogy, research and innovation. The School delivers programs ranging from undergraduate degrees through to PhDs covering the full range of art specialisations, including Art: History + Theory + Cultures, Art Photography, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Gold and Silversmithing, Sculpture, Sound, Media Arts, Arts Management and Public Art.

As a Lecturer in Art it is expected you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in specialisations related to your field of expertise. More specifically, this role is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, Honours, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and professional engagement. This role will also actively promote the RMIT University School of Art program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.

About you

The School of Art is seeking an individual who has a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across online and face-to-face platforms in a studio-based environment. You will be empathetic, approachable and understanding of students learning needs. Moreover, your aptitude to prepare and deliver innovative learning material through a range of learning activities will be highly advantageous to your success in this role. Additionally, you will have experience in course coordination and be able to work collegially and collaboratively on curriculum development. As an experienced lecturer in the Art and Craft domain, you will provide leadership within the rapidly changing international field of craft, design, interdisciplinary practice, emerging technologies and contemporary culture. Academically, you will have an emerging track record of quality research outputs and demonstrate the potential to develop new research initiatives and industry connections. Furthermore, you will have excellent relationship building capabilities and be confident interacting with a range stakeholders across RMIT University and externally.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD in relevant field or equivalent

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).
