Quantity Surveying Programme Leader

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Based central Reading, Berkshire

Salary range £45,000 - £50,000 FTE pa plus benefits

We’re looking for individuals with practical and academic experience in the subject of quantity surveying, who have a keen desire and passion to teach students and support their success!

The main purpose of the role is to provide academic leadership in the subject area of construction, with particular consideration in one or more of the following areas which should include an understanding of international perspective to the subject area: Procurement & Tendering; Estimating; Quantification of Works; Contract Practice & Administration; Project Management; Construction Contracts.

Within this role you will undertake associated academic tutoring and pastoral support for programmes, contribute to the development of new programmes, and aid the research ambitions of the School of Built Environment which includes the engagement of those within the industry and associated professional bodies. You will be a key individual in achieving UCEM’s organisational goals, most crucially maximising student’s potential to achieve academic success.

Key qualities we’re looking for include:

  • Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject
  • Relevant professional qualification(s)/working towards
  • Industry experience as a quantity or construction surveying practitioner, or established research/tutoring experience in appropriate subject areas (refer to job specification)
  • Programme Leadership experience
  • Understanding of current developments in construction practice or education
  • Ability to produce innovative module material to enthuse students
  • Good IT skills and desire to enhance learning through technology
  • Impeccable communication skills – both written and verbal

There are two posts available, one supporting our Undergraduate programmes and one supporting our Postgraduate programmes.
