Job description

The Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University is one of the largest in the UK, and is nationally and internationally renowned as a centre of innovation for its teaching, learning and research of  electronics and computing subject areas. The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is one of three schools within the faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories. The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research.

The School of Computing Electronics and Mathematics is looking for a lecturer in Internet of Things.

We are interested in expanding our teaching and research in electronics, computer science and the boundary between the two, particularly in the following areas:

  • The Internet of Things
  • Industry 4.0
  • Security in Pervasive Computing Systems

You will actively contribute to research groups or communities of practice internally, through the Faculty Research Centres, and externally, assisting with bids and tenders for external projects or contracts. You will also be disseminating research outputs using a range of media and develop external networks nationally and/or internationally. Experience with transnational education and/or quality and approval issues surrounding course design would be helpful.

Teaching duties will be in an area of electronics and/or computing commensurate with the successful candidate's experience. Programming experience is essential.

With a PhD and appropriate professional qualification and/or membership, you will need to demonstrate teaching experience at higher education level with evidence of successful student learning outcomes.

Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, supported by evidence of contribution to appropriate outputs or experience of professional practice/consultancy will be required.
