Associate Vice President (Ref:UIC191001)

Reporting to the President and VP (Academic), the appointee is responsible for developing and coordinating policies and practices with respect to quality enhancement of teaching and learning at UIC. The appointee will play a key role in a wide range of academic matters related to undergraduate studies, particularly those crossing disciplinary boundaries such as faculty development in teaching and learning. As UIC awards Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) degrees, the appointee will also need to work closely with HKBU on all academic quality assurance issues. Other areas of responsibility include: regular quality audits by HKBU and/or other external bodies; accreditation and development of existing and new programmes; supervision of the academic units and related supporting offices; chairing a number of committees.

Job Requirement

Candidate should have a doctoral degree and ample professorial/managerial experiences in a university setting, particularly in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Familiarity with the higher education systems in Hong Kong and mainland China will definitely be a valuable asset. Preference will be given to the candidates have sound track record in research and administrative management experience, especially in reviewing the operation and the related regulations of Academic Registry.

Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance (applicable to Assistant Professor and above), leave and medical insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
