Location: Mile End
Closing date: 01-Dec-2019

Overview:

Queen Mary University of London is a leading global university with a difference. A member of the Russell Group, we have recently launched our new Strategy 2030 and are one of the UK’s top research universities, committed to improving social justice and achieving the previously unthinkable.

The Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) was established in 2018 as an ideas generating hub and a platform for enabling, enhancing and expanding inter- and cross-disciplinary activity in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). We are now looking to appoint an Administrator to provide support to the Director of the IHSS, and work as part of the overall Faculty research support team led by the Faculty Research Manager.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and the Faculty Research Manager to plan, facilitate and monitor the development of the IHSS and will be directly responsible for organising events and other outputs, internal and external communications (including social media), outreach to academics and potential speakers, and providing budgetary updates.

The appointee will develop relationships with a variety of external and internal academic staff, professional services staff and other stakeholders, building good relationships internally and developing your own knowledge of inter-disciplinary research activity and engagement at Queen Mary and more broadly.

The post is part-time (0.6fte) and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £34,220 - £40,194 per annum (pro rata) inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (pro rata), excluding public holidays, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Aurelija Povilaike at a.povilaike@qmul.ac.uk. Application enquiries can be directed to humanresources@qmul.ac.uk

Details about the IHSS can be found at https://www.qmul.ac.uk/ihss/
