Job Description
- Initiate reviews of student, staff and faculty policies, processes and infrastructure and propose areas for improvement, to assist students with disabilities and promote inclusive education
- Seek, understand, analyse and report attitudinal responses from beneficiaries, stakeholders and constituents (including compiling official reports for submission to SMU management and relevant Government Ministries regarding Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) matters, data and statistics)
- Propose and organise activities across the various levels and units of the university to promote awareness of D&I matters Advise internal clients and colleagues on a range of D&I-related matters regarding students with disabilities
- Assess institution-wide learning needs and initiate training / activities that will drive awareness and support for D&I Build and maintain an external network of D&I professionals, stakeholders and partners for the sharing of best practices, as well as collaborative events and campaigns
- Grow a pool of internal D&I champions, mentors and support groups across the university
- Support the university's internal and external communications related to D&I
Qualifications
- Degree in social sciences, humanities, education, and/or communications
- Working knowledge on intergroup processes and relations, social psychology, learning and development, stereotypes and marginalization is advantageous
- At least 6 to 8 years of work experience, preferably in the education and/ or social work sectors, and experienced in working with students with disabilities.
- A good network of contacts with local and overseas disability support / volunteer welfare organisations is advantageous
- Proficient in standard office software (e.g. MS Excel, Word, etc), database management and maintenance Knowledge of web-editing tools, Adobe Photoshop, and SPSS will be advantageous
- Strong verbal and written communications skills An independent, highly motivated and creative thinker with good people management and communication skills
- A good, responsible, collegial team player, with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a caring heart for service
- Excellent administration skills and a good eye and attention for detail
