School/Professional Services: Sports St Mary’s
Starting Salary: £26,715 per annum
Hours: Full-time
Term: Permanent

Since 1850, St Mary’s mission has been to provide a high quality academic and professional environment, inspired by its distinctive ethos and values. The University is an inclusive academic community, where everybody is welcomed.

St Mary’s is on an exciting journey of transformation and growth, to benefit students, staff and the wider St Mary’s community. As the University builds on its proud heritage, it will be looking for exceptional people to help shape its progressive future. Sport St Mary’s coordinates an extensive range of facilities and education programmes across sport, physical education and heath services at one of the UK’s premier sports institutions.

Our core work involves supporting 14 degree programmes and more than 30 student sports clubs and along with this, Sport St Mary’s is committed to developing participation at every level through several flourishing programmes.

SIMMSport offers weekly coaching and holiday camps to 5-16 year olds. SIMMSactive provides a broad programme of recreational opportunities for students and staff. The world-renowned Endurance Performance Centre (EPC) supports the development of elite runners.

In addition, the wide range of local clubs regularly using the facilities provides a valuable community link that enhances sporting life at St Mary’s. The world-class facilities on the main campus and at Teddington Lock have functioned as Olympic pre-Games training camps and as a team base during the Rugby World Cup 2015.

We are looking for a Sports Services Supervisor to join our team. You will deliver first-class reception, customer and sport services within the sports facilities to students, staff and visitors.

It is essential you have strong operational experience, excellent customer service skills, have a proactive ‘can do’ approach and continuously seek to identify any areas of improvement across the facilities and the services offered.

The successful applicant will have significant experience in effective management of a leisure reception or front of house operation and line-management experience. You will be required to work as part of rota shift pattern, including early mornings, evenings and at weekends.

Company

Established in 1850 and with a deep heritage in education, St Mary’s University, Twickenham has a strong reputation for teaching excellence and a student-centred approach.

St Mary’s University is a modern, friendly and welcoming university situated in the leafy borough of Richmond upon Thames and a short train journey away from the hustle and bustle of central London. St Mary’s is on an exciting journey of transformation and growth, to benefit students, staff and the wider St Mary’s community. As the University builds on its proud heritage, it is looking for exceptional people to help shape its progressive future.  Our current strategy, Vision 2025, is focused on people and place, with the aim of creating a positive learning environment centred on our campus.

We are a strong and welcoming community of students and staff and are committed to the highest standards in teaching across our wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In 2019, we were again awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted and in the 2018 National Student Survey, St Mary’s ranked first in London for Teaching Excellence and Student Experience, contributing to our jump of 56 places in the NSS league table.

We have also seen our second successive significant rise in the Sunday Times Good University Guide. Our rise of 39 places since 2017 positions us as 12th in London and 77th nationality. Other significant league table changes include a rise of 25 places in the 2019 Guardian University Guide league table, to 80th in the UK, and 17 places in the Complete University Guide as a notable climber.

In addition, we have a vibrant culture and environment.

Our core values; inclusiveness, generosity of spirit, respect and excellence underpin all we do as a University and we are actively working to embed these into our daily behaviours.  We want to create the best possible conditions for our students and staff to develop into independent problem solvers and ethical leaders, enthusiastic about knowledge and learning, and able to get things done.

You will find further information on the web pages about our University. If you are excited by the opportunity to join St Mary’s and help us to realise our ambitious plans, then we look forward to hearing from you.
