Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for two early childhood academics to contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs. The early childhood program at ECU is a specialist course (birth to eight years) with a large team of researchers and academics. The appointee will demonstrate a high level of connectivity between the education of pre-service teachers, their own early childhood teaching experiences and engagement with the early childhood field.

The Lecturer must have a budding professional and early childhood teaching profile and can demonstrate community and professional links. The successful applicant will have indepth knowledge or early childhood curriculum, national learning frameworks and the quality agenda. Additionally, they have begun to establish a research profile and will have a record of publication and demonstrated the capacity to teach at University level.

The Senior Lecturer must have a national professional profile and be able to demonstrate leadership in both research and teaching as well as professional, industry and community links. It is expected that that the successful applicant will have an indepth knowledge of early childhood curriculum, national learning frameworks and the quality agenda. Additionally, they will possess a record of research and publications, research student supervision and demonstrated capacity to provide teaching leadership in curriculum review, design and implementation.

The early childhood programs at ECU lead Australia in their stand-alone delivery and are registered both with the Teacher Registration Board of WA and ACECQA.

The Role

We are seeking an Early Childhood Education specialists to enhance our dynamic team of experts in this field. The applicant would have experience both as an academic and in early childhood settings.

The key responsibilities of the positions will include but not be limited to:

• Fostering a research culture
• Producing recognised research outputs and obtaining research grants
• Developing and contributing to course curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Supervision of higher degree by research students
• Engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with areas including (but not only) Maths, Language and Literacy, Visual Arts and teaching pedagogies for young children.
• Strategic and proactive engagement with industry, the profession and the community

The requirements for this role are set out in the Selection Criteria. To be considered for appointment at Level C you will need to demonstrate your ability and experience in teaching and curriculum development and coordination at Course level, management of staff, publishing in academic journals and achievement of National competitive research grants or equivalent. At Level C you will also be expected to coordinate courses.

The successful applicant will also be required to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check and be eligible for Teacher Registration in Western Australia.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, ongoing position attracts a remuneration of $99,043 to $117,312 (Level B) / $120,961 to $139,228 (Level C) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
