About the role and college/portfolio

The new School of Design comprises the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design (including Animation & Interactive Media) and Communication Design. The School builds on RMITs leading national and international reputation in design education by creating a specific focus on emerging areas such as UX and service design, design strategy and virtual and augmented reality.

In the first three years of this position, you will be expected to act as the Program Manager which will involve working with Games staff and the School to coordinate the vision, and the delivery of the Games Program and ensure it is achieving desired outcomes.

The program has a strong focus on independent games development and is an important research leadership role which will be aligned to your research expertise and ultimately embedded into the life of the School.

The role will require you to conduct, engage and lead outstanding research projects aligned with RMITs research focus areas and will engage with external partners including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and working with Melbournes dynamic local industry which includes companies such as House House, League of Geeks, Hipster Whale, Fanclub and 2pt.

About you

You will have strong academic leadership skills and contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the Games discipline. You will have experience with coordinating courses and delivering programs and innovative pathways to student-centred learning and improvement.

You will bring with you the ability to develop high-quality, driven networks across RMIT and with local, national and global, internal and external.

Furthermore, you will display an understanding and dedication to financial, governance and quality management systems. The successful candidate will display a high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills to interact across all levels of the university.

You will possess an emerging, nationally recognised track record with high-quality outputs and the ability to secure research funding.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in relevant field.
