Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Anthropology of Health and Sport and Exercise Sciences. The post holder will work on a process evaluation of environmental and policy interventions designed to increase active travel, focused on travel to school and travel in new residential developments. They will work with Dr Tessa Pollard and Prof Carolyn Summerbell in Durham, Co-Investigators on the project, and also liaise closely with Dr Jenna Panter, Principle Investigator, and two Post-Doctoral Research Associates employed on the project at the University of Cambridge. The project is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Public Health Research (SPHR).

The successful applicant will be expected to be responsible for collecting and analysing ethnographic data on children’s and families’ experiences of environments and policies designed to increase active travel to school. They will also contribute to part of the project that involves interviewing policy-makers and practitioners about how they fund and implement policies designed to increase active/sustainable travel.

The postholder will be a member of both the Department of Anthropology and the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences and will be located within the Department of Anthropology.
