We have an exciting opportunity to join Construction Scotland Innovation Centre as a Commercial Manager.

The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre supports Scotland's construction related businesses, clients and key stakeholders to collaborate, innovate and grow by matching innovation requirements with business support and academic excellence. We offer advice, funding, facilitation and access to appropriate expertise, improving Scotland's competitiveness and growing economic, social and environmental impact. Activity focuses around key challenges & opportunities for the sector including digital transformation, accelerating industrialisation, building sustainably and cultural change.

The role is based at CSIC's Innovation Factory at Hamilton International Technology Park. This unique GBP 2.5million facility supports the construction sector to innovate, collaborate and grow, featuring advanced technology and specialist equipment including industrial robotics, digital manufacturing tools and virtual and augmented reality technology that can be used for prototyping, commercialisation and training purposes, alongside meeting and event spaces where the sector can come together to explore the future and learn.

The Role

The Commercial Manager is a critical position within CSIC and offers an exciting opportunity for someone seeking to lead the development and delivery of commercial income generating activity within a rapidly growing and highly respected organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Operations, the postholder will have responsibility for the development and delivery of CSIC's commercial income generation activity, building capacity to meet the strategic direction of the organisation. 

The role will include regular travel across Scotland and the UK and on occasions, internationally.

Who We Are Looking For

Working with the Head of Commercial & Operations, the postholder will be responsible for developing and implementing relevant strategies, partnerships, programmes and activities that generate commercial income from a range of sources in order to meet CSIC's commercial objectives and secure the long term financial sustainability of the organisation. 

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Significant experience in commercial sales roles
• Experience of building successful long term relationships with businesses of all sizes
• Experience developing sales or commercial strategies and implementing effectively 
• Experience developing sales or marketing material or tools
• Experience preparing quotes or proposals for clients

Desirable attributes:

• Degree or equivalent in a business or marketing related subject OR professional qualification in a relevant discipline. 
• Experience in a membership based organisation
• Experience of working in construction or built environment sector roles
• Experience of working with universities or colleges
• Experience working in innovation or economic development contexts
