Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Futures Placement Administrator to join the Student Futures Team. Student Futures' vision is to ensure that each of our students leaves the University fully equipped to pursue their desired career and, whether a careers & skills development consultant, placement specialist, employer engagement or graduate recruitment consultant, this is the focus of each and every one of us.

Student Futures Placement team

Edinburgh Napier's skills, guidance, placements and employment support is highly regarded by both students and employers. Each School has dedicated placement staff to support them with relevant knowledge about the programmes in each School.

Our placements team offer invaluable support for students throughout the placement process, advertising work placements and summer internships to our students, inviting businesses on to campus to meet with them, offering 1:1 advice on CVs and covering letters, as well as organising workshops to help prepare students for their placement. The team, in partnership with academic colleagues, also support students throughout their placement and the transition back to University.

The role

A Student Futures Placement Administrator is intended to operate broadly interchangeably and flexibly as support requirements demand, in order to deliver an efficient and resilient local service to academic areas. The Student Futures Placement Administrator will also work closely with other relevant staff (academic and non-academic), placement host organisations and students to ensure all Student Futures placement activities and priorities are supported coherently and appropriately to meet the University Strategy.

Who we are looking for

Essential Requirements

  • HNC I HND or equivalent demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in communicating at all levels across the University, both orally and in writing.
  • Tactful and courteous telephone manner with an ability to deal with difficult calls.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of working in Further/Higher Education or public sector.
  • Experience of working within a careers or recruitment setting
  • Experience of forging relationships with internal, external, clients and partners.
