The School of Media and Performing Arts has a long-sustained reputation for innovation and enjoys a rapidly rising profile as our alumni inform, mediate and shape the world around us. The School has established a highly distinctive 'Open Media' approach towards its teaching, research and professional practice and offers exciting undergraduate and postgraduate courses including media and communications, journalism, media production, digital media, and photography. This post teaching on Media Production and Film Production courses underpins this ethos and the enhancement of teaching and learning activities in the School.

As a result of expansion and the University's on-going commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, we are seeking an academic with an established profile within Film Production to join our thriving, innovative Media Production course provision and to help to develop courses in Film Production. Applicants should hold a doctorate in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience and be able to relate the key debates framing the transformation and location of film and media in contemporary culture to teaching contexts. In addition, applicants must have an experience of education innovation, curriculum design and a proven track record of delivering afirst-class student experience within a globally orientated, higher education environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and on-going development of our Media Production offer, which focuses on lens-based and digital media - T.V.  broadcast and the production of work for distribution across multiple and emerging platforms. In particular they will have expertise in producing film and television for thecinema and broadcast.  Particularly in the area of producing and production management, line producer and unit production managing.  Current Knowledge of the film and screen industries, including experience of current technologies, workflows and practices.

The successful candidate will be the academic lead for the development of course offers foregrounding Film Production. Candidates should have capabilities in utilising web/mobile/networked and social media platforms for academic purposes.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University's PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.
