The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor with a specialism in any area related to physiology or psychology. We are particularly interested in candidates offering expertise in quantitative or interdisciplinary methods that complement and extend the existing research strengths of the Department. Our recruitment strategy aims to build on recent successful recruitment, strengthening research within our two interdisciplinary themes: (i) Sporting lives, Sub-cultures and Performance and (ii) Sport, Physical Activity and Social Change.
We aim to achieve a Top 10 Departmental UK and Top 50 World Ranking, by 2027 with a global reputation for progressive, vibrant and impactful sport and exercise science research and teaching. We seek therefore to elevate our research activity and environment through the support and delivery of influential research publications, together with research capacity enhancement through income generation and the proof of social value through documented impact.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the Department’s taught programmes in one or more of our core disciplinary areas (psychology, physiology, physical activity, nutrition, research methods). They will also participate in postgraduate research supervision at an appropriate level, contribute to the administration and management of the Department undertaking leadership and management roles appropriate to their career stage, and play a full part in the life of the Department.
