The Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor (Industry Engagement) works collaboratively with researchers to help deliver research and innovation to solve industry and society challenges. The OPVC (IE) enables La Trobe as a Partner of Choice and facilitates the development of strategic collaborations with industry through sponsored research, research collaborations, patent management, licensing, and commercialisation.

About the position

The Director, Business Development & Commercialisation will lead and develop the Business Development & Commercialisation team, focussing on key priorities such as effective resource allocation and collaboration. You will be a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders across industry, government and venture organisations to promote the activities of the University. You will oversee and facilitate the delivery of the Business Development & Commercialisation pipeline from industry research engagement and ensure plans are aligned with La Trobe strategy and focus areas.

About the candidate

To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in business development and technology transfer in a university or research institution. You will have demonstrated ability to build and develop key strategic relationships and deliver end-to-end conversion of strategic business development and commercialisation opportunities.  Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are essential including to ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build successful professional relationships.
