Overall Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University’s Faculty of Sport Health and Applied Science. The Faculty is seeking to appoint a qualified individual to take on the important role of Pastoral Health Tutor. The person appointed will be responsible for delivering enhanced pastoral care, ensuring engagement and retention amongst students from diverse and non-traditional educational backgrounds. This could include mature students, international students and those who may not have had a positive academic experience previously. The post holder will foster strong stakeholder relationships including Student Services, Registry and academic departments within the Faculty of Sport Health and Applied Science.

This is a key student facing role of which the main purpose is to deliver a positive and supportive student experience for each Foundation Programme year cohort as they progress through their University career.

The sucessful candidate will have previous experience, preferably in the Higher Education sector, of working with and managing the needs of groups with complex needs. Addtionally it would be an advantage to have some background in any of the areas of Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Science or Psychology. The postholder will play a pivotal role in working closely with the Foundation programme team; with all services within St Mary’s; proactively solving a wide variety of issues each day; working as instructed by the Associate Dean for Student Experience and Programme Director for Foundation Year in SHAS.
