  • Full-time, 9-month Fixed Term opportunity. Salary package of $121k-$137k p.a (HEO 8) inclusive of annual leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation.   

About the opportunity 

The Business Analyst provides sound policy and procedural advice to staff, students and visitors and makes recommendations that influence the future direction of the Faculty.

If appointed you will conduct complex analysis, research and provide sound expert advice and input into the development of strategy, policy and planning for the Faculty. The role supports strategic Faculty projects and utilises their expertise in data analysis and business documentation to gather data and develop outputs.

With a focus on establishing, managing and sustaining effective processes for admissions, gift acquittal, scholarships and prizes, the role analyses data, supports policy determinations and provides sound advice on policy and procedures for the Faculty.

The Business Analyst ensures efficient workflows are in place, and exercises initiative and judgement to resolve complex problems. The incumbent is expected to build rapport with a range of staff across the work area and in the wider University administration environment to meet unit objectives.

Business Analyst with the following:

  • A postgraduate qualification in business administration or related field with relevant experience in business administration and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with and utilize data and database platforms to inform and support organizational and operational decision-making.
  • Advanced data analytics and process design skills, including extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Visio (or equivalent software).
  • Excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes.
  • Financial experience and literacy, demonstrated ability to analyze and model cost and revenue structures, interrogate and audit financial transactions, design spending plans and control budgets.
  • Knowledge of administrative processes, policy objectives and the system of governance in higher educational institutions, including the interpretation and application of legislation, rules and regulations.

The Faculty of Science is one of six faculties operating within the University and includes the Schools of Chemistry, Geosciences, History and Philosophy of Science, Life and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics, Psychology, and the Sydney School of Veterinary Science. The Faculty stewards a range of research entities including the Sydney Institute of Agriculture and the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics, and partners with University-wide research centres including the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC), the Brain and Mind Centre (BMC) and the Australian Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology (AINST).
