University of Worcester

Senior Languages Centre Coordinator

£39,151 - £49,554 pa, Band 8

Full time, 18 Months Contract

This is a newly created post to manage the provision of EFL, EAP, MFL, TEFL and CELTA at the University of Worcester. You will work closely with the Director of International and the Head of International Experience to support language learning both for academic credit and for personal development to meet the needs of our students and staff. You will lead a team comprising the EFL coordinator, Language Advisor, Administrator and a bank of Associate Lecturers.

Background

The Worcester Global team comprises International Recruitment, International Experience (including student and staff international mobility) and World Languages.

The University of Worcester delivers modules for credit to undergraduate students in the areas of EFL, TEFL, EAP, MFL and CELTA. The university has British Council accreditation and English UK membership and is authorised to deliver Cambridge CELTA training.  An important part of our work is in supporting the language needs of students whose first language is not English through EFL and EAP modules, and in delivering pre-sessional and taster courses for international students. Although we do not offer Modern Foreign Language degrees, we do offer a small range of for-credit MFL elective modules at beginner and intermediate levels and a broad range of languages taught online through Rosetta Stone. This supports an ambitious plan for outward student mobility to a well-established list of international partner universities. World Languages also offers a 30 credit English Language module with a CELTA certificate or an intensive CELTA training programme to offer added value and employability skills for students who wish to take up a Third Year Abroad opportunity or to work and travel after graduation.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will be asked, as part of the selection process to deliver a 10 minute presentation to the panel on the following:

How would you engage home and international students and staff at University of Worcester in a culture of language acquisition and learning?

This will be followed by 5 minutes of questions specifically on the presentation.

Ref: INT1902-4100

Closing date: 21 October 2019.
