(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting on March 1, 2020. The position entails 65 % of the fulltime weekly hours and is fixed-term for 3 years. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Andrea Reiter, Prof. Shu-Chen Li, Ph.D und Prof. Dr. Philipp Kanske on the newly funded DFG-project “Deciphering cognitive and affective neural correlates of prosocial decision making in adult development”.

Tasks: The project is a collaboration between the Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience and the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience. Using functional and structural MRI as well as experimental tasks, we aim to investigate the cognitive and affective (i.e., Theory of Mind and Empathy) neural correlates of prosocial decision-making across the adult lifespan. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take part in all phases of the project, including data collection and analyses, presentation of results at conferences and manuscript preparations.

Requirements: university degree (Diploma, Master) in Psychology, Cognitive/Affective Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, computational Neuroscience, Machine Learning or related fields; interest in (social) neuroscience and lifespan research. Candidates with experience in (f)MRI, programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, R) or an interest in acquiring them are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Faculty of Psychology offers an exciting and supportive multidisciplinary research environment with ample opportunities for training and collaboration. The Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience has one 64-channel electroencephalography (EEG) system with EEG cabin, eyetracker systems, direct current stimulation (tDCS) systems, behavioral testing rooms as well as access to a research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) through the university’s Neuroimaging Centre.
