The Dr. Ruth O’Hara Research Laboratory within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University is seeking a Research Assistant with expertise performing ambulatory Polysomnography and neurocognitive testing related to the collection of clinical data. Also the position will include performing bench science activities.

Duties include:

  • Perform full polysomnography using ambulatory device, including placement of EEG, EOG, EMG, expiratory/inspiratory nasal airway pressure, nasal/oral airflow, finger pulse oximetry, electrocardiogram (ECG).
  • Administer standard neurocognitive questionnaires and tests including measures such as MMSE, RAVLT, Boston Naming, JLO, Digit Span, BDI, WTAR etc. Score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents.
  • Conduct bench science duties including, PCR, DNA and RNA extraction and analyses, iPSC, cell culture, growth and assays.

Desired qualifications:

  • Prior experience in running ambulatory polysomnography using Siesta (Compumedics) and Nox A1 system.
  • Prior experience conducting neurocognitive testing
  • Prior experience in bench science
  • Re essential documentation and recording of patient and research data in appropriate files per institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in monitor visits and regulatory audits.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in running ambulatory polysomnography using Siesta (Compumedics) and Nox A1 system.
  • Prior experience conducting neurocognitive testing
  • Prior experience in bench sciences

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Two year college degree and two years related work experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Society of Clinical Research Associates or Association of Clinical Research Professionals certification is preferred.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
