The Faculty of Engineering and Environment is passionate about the principles and applications of Science and Technology in all its forms and strives to be excellent in research, teaching and innovation.

Working within the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering (MPEE), you will provide expertise in an area of Physics or Electrical Engineering to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities. The department has particular strengths in three core groups: Electrical Power and Control Systems (EPCS), Optical Communications Research Group (OCRG), and Renewable Energy Technologies and Materials (RETM).

We are currently seeking to strengthen and consolidate our existing activity in this area. In particular, we are interested in hearing from candidates with IOT skills, digital electronic synthesis, radio /optical communication, or power engineering backgrounds.

As a senior Academic colleague, you will assist the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor to maintain, enhance and improve the University’s national and international reputation in your academic field. You must demonstrate continuing academic attainment and achievement and provide academic leadership (of your subject and associated colleagues), through active contribution to your discipline and tot he life and work of the Faculty and the wider University. This will include contributing to significant change within practice, the discipline, profession and/or community at regional, national and international level.

To be successful in this role you will have externally recognised research outputs of a quality that are internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and demonstrable success in securing research funding. You should also demonstrate academic leadership experience and strong standing with external bodies and networks in your field.
