About us

Southern Cross University, ranked in the top 150 universities in the world under 50 years old (Times Higher Education University Rankings for 2019), is a progressive, young and connected research university, with vibrant campuses in two states.

The Hotel School is a unique educational partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia, a major player in the hotel industry. The Hotel School Sydney and Melbourne campuses are located right in the heart of the hotel industry, and with the Hotel School Brisbane opening in November 2019, students can easily access quality hotel management education in all of Australia’s east-coast capital cities.

The Hotel School offers students a unique, industry-connected university experience. Courses on offer to both domestic and international students include the Diploma of Hotel Management, Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management, Graduate Certificate in International Tourism and Hotel Management, Graduate Diploma of International Tourism and Hotel Management, and the Master of International Tourism and Hotel Management.

About the role

Southern Cross University is embarking on a strategic reform of its educational partnership framework, policy and governance, based on a strong working relationship and history with our partners.

The Academic Director, Hotel School Partnership is a pivotal and senior leadership position at Southern Cross University and will champion the ongoing academic success of the longstanding collaboration between Southern Cross and Mulpha Australia.

The Academic Director will have responsibility for day to day operational academic matters requiring University input, as well as product ownership and development on behalf of the University. Along with the establishment of a culture of scholarly enquiry within the Hotels School, this position will lead all compliance and quality assurance requirements on behalf of the Partnership.

The successful candidate will have a profile commensurate with an appointment at Academic Level E (Professor) or Academic Level D (Associate Professor). Whilst a Sydney appointment is preferred, appointments based at Brisbane or Melbourne can be negotiated for the right candidate.

About you

As part of the strategic reform, we are seeking applications from senior higher education academics to lead this journey in relationship to our Hotel School collaboration. To be successful in this role you will have a collaborative mindset and a demonstrated grasp of industry-education linkages. With commitment to the highest levels of academic quality, you will be passionate about student success and be an experienced influencer in educational partnership management.

You will have demonstrated expertise in academic innovation, course development and teaching, and a scholarly profile commensurate with the level of appointment.

Alignment with the University values of collegiality and integrity are an inherent requirement of this role.

Applications close at 9:00am AEDT on Monday, 4 November 2019.
