DIRECTOR OF PROSPECT RESEARCH, Resource Development, to set strategic goals in collaboration with the senior director of prospect development for the prospect research needs of the Institute and design and implement research deliverables that meet those needs most efficiently and effectively. Will provide leadership to a team that supports the entire MIT fund-raising community by directing individual prospect research activities, including the coordination, prioritization, and review of research briefings and materials; be responsible for all hiring, orientation, performance reviews, performance management, terminations, and ongoing support for staff; and track budgets and manage a portfolio of on-line research tools in collaboration with the other members of the Prospect Development team. 

Prospect Development contributes to the fund-raising efforts of the Institute by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information to direct and inform solicitation and engagement strategy for prospective donors. It promotes a culture of donor-centric fund-raising in order to build meaningful donor relationships and strong philanthropic connections to the Institute. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a bachelor's degree; at least five years of prospect research experience and two years of supervisory experience; experience with prospect management and online databases; excellent organizational and oral and written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy; advanced-level technical skills, including the ability to manipulate databases; and the ability to build strong partnerships with clients and team members and to work independently when appropriate. PREFERRED:  experience with the Advance database, advanced degree, and experience within a complex development operation.  Job 318056-9
