With a new organisational structure, WMG is now seeking candidates for the post of Research Director.  An important member of WMG’s executive, the Research Director will play a major strategic role in the development of the Group alongside providing strong leadership of WMG’s research strategy.  As the academic lead for REF, the Research Director will line manage the five Heads of the Research Directorates which include Materials & Manufacturing Technologies, Intelligent Vehicles, Energy, Digital Technologies, and Organisational and Societal Transformation. S/he will also provide academic leadership in his/her chosen field, working with a range of industrial and other partners and collaborators in industry and the broader R&D context.

Strong candidates will be senior researchers with an established track record in an area aligned to WMG’s research strategy, and have an international recognition for published work, as well as a sustained history of obtaining grant and contract funding. Evidence of impact on real-world problems will be essential in the WMG context, and good candidates will be demonstrably committed to this agenda.
