About the position

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce, the Dean and Head of School will lead a reinvigorated School committed to the highest standards in research and in teaching and learning. Its programs will be research-led, with a deep discipline-base, and produce outstanding teachers who are equipped to use evidence-based approaches to support learners in contemporary diverse classrooms.

The Dean and Head of School will be a member of the College Executive, and have a key leadership role for the strategic management and performance of the School’s teaching, research and engagement activities.

This position will provide support and advice to the College PVC and Vice-Chancellor on all matters relating to the School, ensuring that the School’s objectives and activities are aligned with those of the College and the University.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will possess an outstanding national and international record of achievement as an academic leader in the field of education, as well as an understanding of emerging trends in the early childhood, school and outdoor education sectors.  You will bring experience in leading successful innovation and change within a complex organisation to ensure the School transitions smoothly through this next phase of renewal.  You will be an inspiring leader with the ability to build strategic relationships with key external stakeholders and industry partners and provide leadership in the community.
