The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Lecturer, Digital Journalism is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School.

More specifically, the Lecturer will teach and coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate WIL-focused journalism courses including Digital and Data Journalism, Journalism Technologies, and Journalism Capstone, while also supporting other members of the Journalism team in the production of The City Journal in Newsroom.

The Lecturer, Digital Journalism is expected to actively promote the programs by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities.

The Lecturer, Digital Journalism will be responsible for course coordination.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate with be a journalist with current industry experience.

We are seeking an individual who is experienced in the rapidly changing field of journalism communication. This includes a strong track record in the use of digital technologies (including the management of a modern newsroom), a proven ability to teach and research new ways of producing, promoting and distributing journalism and a demonstrated ability to produce quality journalism in a digital environment.

You will have experience in undertaking high quality research and an ability to prepare and win competitive research funding.

A demonstrated ability in building local and international networks with peers and industry will be highly desirable, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with students, staff, and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Applicants are required to have successfully completed a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.

This role will also require satisfactory confirmation of a Working with Children Check.
