An opportunity to demonstrate your strategic management abilities through driving continuous improvement and exceptional engagement within the Office of Research & Innovation.

Charles Darwin University is a new world university; committed to bringing people together to use knowledge to shape the future. It's a place where everyone can follow their passion to make things better - however big or small, and it’s these attributes form the rich mosaic that is CDU. This drives who we engage with, what we research, how we deliver education and training, what we value and how we imagine our future. We support our staff and students to follow their passions to help shape a brighter future for everyone. We are proud of who we are.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation (DVC RI) partners with the Executive Leadership team to drive the University’s development and success through the execution of CDU’s strategic direction, provides leadership and participates in the executive decision-making process. The DVC RI’s office oversees University research through the Office of Research and Innovation, the Board of Graduate Studies, the Enterprise Research Group and the University’s Ethics Committees.

As the Director of Research, you are responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Office of Research and Innovation. This is delivered by supporting the DVC RI in the development of high quality research, research training and enterprise, and promoting innovation and commercialisation across CDU’s campuses. You will contribute to the University’s strategic management of Research Block Grants; initiatives that will improve research outcomes across the University, including strategic planning and recruitment of resources that support research objectives. Your ability to encourage a positive ‘can-do’ culture of engagement from the central research office staff including external and internal stakeholders, especially with academics/researchers and HDR students, will be viewed very favourably.

Relevant tertiary education qualifications with demonstrated experience in senior management within a University Research office or equivalent will be essential for your success. Sound leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels will be highly regarded, as will experience in research and innovation management, business development and success in implementing service improvement strategies in a complex workplace environment.
