At TU Dresden, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Materials Science, the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology (Prof. Dr. G. Cuniberti) offers a position as

Research Associate / Postdoc 
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

to work on the development and integration of novel sensor systems, starting at 01.01.2020. The fixed-term position is initially limited for 3 years with the option for extension up to 6 years and offers perfect perspectives for the personal development within a university career from postdoc to group leader and aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. habilitation thesis).

The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Acts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). 

Position and Requirements
The scientific activities of the Chair Materials Science and Nanotechnology at TU Dresden are focused on developing non-conventional strategies for innovative materials and devices with intrinsic nanoscale complexity.
The successful candidate will be integrated in our Bioelectronics Research Group and work in close collaboration with the research teams at the Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials (http://www.mbc-dresden.de/). The task will also include the review of the scientific progress of the research group, an active role in the cooperation with internal and external academic and industrial partners, the acquisition of third party grants and the assistance in the teaching activities of the Chair. The candidate is expected to pursue her/his habilitation at our Chair to further shape her/his profile for an excellent scientific career.

For a successful application an university degree and academic doctorate is required, preferably in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science or Electrical Engineering. Previous experience in sensor technology with a special focus on e.g. neuromorphic sensor engineering, sensor data integration and evaluation or multiplex signal processing are considered as preferential. Furthermore, personal initiative, independent work, as well as the ability for team-oriented research are necessary, as well as excellent communication and writing skills in English. We target at top-notch dedicated and proactive young scientists who plan to make their mark in science.
