The Role

As an English Language Teacher in this fast-paced and highly collaborative environment, you will plan and teach quality English language programs for our students. You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of ELC teaching methodology and programs. You will assist and guide students though consultations and the provision of academic advice and support. You will actively participate in meetings and work with ELC and Macquarie university staff and stakeholders. As a dedicated member of the ELC, you will also stay abreast of recent methodological developments and research in the field and maintain knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g. National ELICOS Standards, NEAS Standards etc.).

Macquarie University English Language Centre (ELC) is the University’s English language provider. The ELC is well-established and well-respected for its quality teaching and its range of specialised and high stakes Direct Entry programs, Academic English, General English and Study Tour programs.   • Bachelor’s degree plus TESOL certificate or higher
  • Demonstrated skill and experience teaching across ELICOS programs
  • Sound understanding of current ELT methodologies
  • Ability to operate and adapt in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Preparedness to work collaboratively with co-teachers and broader teams
  • Assessing to standard
  • Good computer skills, administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Master of Applied Linguistics/TESOL/Education or equivalent desirable
  • IELTS/Cambridge Examiner experience desirable

Group and individual interviews are scheduled on selected days between Tue 8 Oct - Fri 18 Oct.         

Interview sessions will take place either in the morning (9:00am - 11.00am approx.) or in the afternoon (1:00 - 3:00pm approx.). Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend one group interview session and must attend the interview for the duration of the session.
