The College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education (SHEE) at Murdoch University has core research and teaching strengths in Molecular and Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Sciences and Environmental and Conservation Sciences. The School of Veterinary Medicine is involved in teaching undergraduate medical students and biomedical science students, amongst other Life Science cohorts. The development of two major medical teaching hospitals within the Murdoch Activity Precinct has presented the School with the opportunity to strengthen our engagement in the One-Health agenda, an area that lies at the intersection of common inter-related problems involving the health of humans, animals and the environment.

The Role

The Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor in One Health, Public Health or Epidemiology will make a substantial contribution to teaching, including but not limited to, preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, seminars, clinical sessions and studio sessions, and marking and assessments. They will contribute to the University’s success in grant activity and research outputs, with a national and international impact.

The appointee will be expected to develop links with appropriate funding and professional bodies, conduct leading edge research, and take responsibility for developing and conducting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in their expertise areas.

Skills and Experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A PhD relevant to the discipline of Public Health and Epidemiology and/or Veterinary Public Health.
  • Experience in teaching in Veterinary Public Health, or Public Health and Epidemiology, or two or more years of postdoctoral or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated success in generating high quality independent research outputs with national recognition and a developing international profile.
  • A track record of success in obtaining and successfully managing external competitive grant funds.
