Murdoch University is home to the only Veterinary School in Western Australia, and its prestigious teaching hospital provides the clinical facility that enables students to learn hands on skills in veterinary clinical and diagnostic sciences. It also provides a service to community through its team of top specialists who oversee the care and treatment of all animals referred to the hospital.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced results-oriented individual with strong organisational leadership skills to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University (TAHMU).

The Position

Reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor, College of Science, Health Engineering and Education, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership to TAHMU as a comprehensive, integrated and best-practice animal health service. This includes focusing on achieving clear outcomes to deliver on the organisation’s strategy, and fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism and high performance. Utilising well-honed stakeholder management skills and extensive networks, the appointee will cultivate strategic relationships to optimise TAHMU’s contribution to the education mission of the Murdoch University Veterinary Science courses and its contribution to the Murdoch University community in support of animal health and wellbeing.

The preferred candidate will be a strategically focused leader and will have:

  • Significant managerial experience in a hospital/ clinical environment or relevant commercial sectors.
  • Highly developed strategic and operational leadership skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse group of specialist health and medical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage financial budgets and business plans.
